Finally – after months of trying to find time – we managed to get the second pergola roofed. All the materials have been sitting there but Ashley just hasn’t had time.
No it’s not new corrigated iron – but lovely bent and buckeled second hand iron. We both love the look – very rustic. Eventually there will be (I hope) a wood fired pizza oven sitting about where the smaller ladder is. Both Ashley and I agree on the position – now to buy one or make one which is a huge expense in the first instance, or job in the second.
The capping is on now Ashley just has to find suitable “bits” to put on the ends and it’s done.
Inbetwen helping Ashley I cleaned up some of this bed. Most had been done when we put in the new fence – but there were still plants that needed a major pruning. James helped which was a bonus. Now to work out what to plant in there that will hide the fence and look attractive. I’m thinking a grove of trees that I can sit under in the warmer months – some deciduous (as you will see them from the dining room) and some evergreen. The area extends to the right of the photo so there is a bit of room to play.
