My friend Maureen from CrazyQStitcher sent me the instructions and pattern for the beetle she had blogged the other day which I loved. Do have a look at Maureen’s beetle – it’s so life life it’s amazing.

I just had to have a little play and this is the end result……

It is only about an inch long from head to end of the body.

I used silk thread that I had bought on ebay a while ago (sorry don’t know the name of it) and it’s wonderful to sew with – providing you only use 2 or 3 strands at a time – any more than that and it becomes a right royal pain…grin. I padded the “head” with a heavy cotton thread first then satin stitched over it. The stripes in the body and the legs are done in variagated silk thread as well. Not bad for a first effort, but I have a long way to go until I get to Maureen’s level.

I am toying with the idea of making a heap of different bugs and perhaps cqing them together with just simple seam treatments between each patch………the idea is brewing but whether it hatches into something is another matter.

Thank you for leaving a comment. I love to read your thoughts on my posts and I do try to respond, sometimes though life gets in the way.
