Spoils of Shopping

Elise and I had a brilliant day shopping yesterday.  It rained when we left, rained on and off the whole trip (Bendigo is two hours away) then rained all day in Bendigo.  Normally I hate shopping when it’s raining, but this was wonderful.  Bendigo is really suffering with the drought – there is no permanent water such as a river or lake there – and the water situation is critical.

Spotlight first – I had a list and sort of stuck to it…vbg.

A new cutting mat, ruler, fat quarters and some other fabric.

I couldn’t resist these – there was heaps more to choose from – but you know what it’s like too much fabric choice makes it difficult …vbg.

I had to buy this.  I think a quilt possibly for James – maybe a log cabin with this as the borders? I’m not sure what I will do with the teal coloured peice of fabric I bought – but it was too pretty to leave there.

My 40th birthday is in January and I don’t mind admitting for a while there I was debating whether I would have a party or not.  It would seem it is now decided – I am….roflmol.  Couldn’t resist all the bright colours in cutlery, streamers, balloons and serviettes so I just had to buy them.. I want to be organised after all.  Now to plan a menu, guest list, and get organised.  Ohh and Elise insisted that I needed a pack of balloons with “Happy 40th Birthday” printed on them….like I needed reminding……grin/groan.

Elise was dressed from the skin out.  She ended up with three pairs of three quarter pants, five t-shirts, socks and underwear and pj’s, not to mention a new pair of sneakers as hers are about ruined.  It was soooooo good to go shopping with her.  She didn’t stray too far from Mum – cause I had the money…..funny about that.  Made really sensible decisions and in general was a total delight to be with.  We had chinese for lunch, donuts for morning tea and in general spoiled ourselves silly.  Ohh and I did find three  t-shirts that I really liked and a couple of pairs of 3/4 track pants which are super comfortable.  Not bad considering I don’t seem to have great success with my clothes shopping.

Just had to show you Ashley’s Christmas present (don’t mind the picture of Mike Holmes from “Holmes on Homes” on the screen.  Ashley looooooves the TV…funny about that.  Note how it just fits on our TV stand.  He was NOT going to get a new one of those as well.

I bought two of these little bookcases to go next to the TV cupboard in the rumpus room.  I need to massively resort my books and get rid of a lot we just don’t want or need.  These two small cases will hopefully help to keep those we read the most close at hand.

Guess how very uninterested Milly and Ajax were about my shopping – all they cared about was not being put outside again (both decided to sleep in the rumpus room where they hoped we wouldn’t see them)  and when were they going to be fed.

  1. I was going to say that the next best thing to going shopping is to see someone else shop but now that I think of it…it’s less work to sit back and enjoy the experience vicariously through you :)

Glad you had a great time and glad you scored some good stuff.
