Life is busy – yeah right like we didn’t already know that.
Tuesday I had acrylic nails attached for the first time ever. There’s nothing like nearly reaching 40 and then deciding that you are going to be “high maintainance”…vbg. They look wonderful and for the first time ever I have long nails that aren’t going to break – or so I thought. Imagine my surprise when I found that they are lifting (after just four days) and one fell off completely last night. Ashley came with me today to the salon where they apologuised profusely and made an appointment for me on Monday to repair them – at no charge – as it should be. Hopefully it was just a simple mistake and I haven’t wasted my money – time will tell. I spent the rest of the morning Christmas shopping and achieved quite a bit.
Wednesday I had a biopsy done on a mark on my arm. For the first time ever I was in and out of the Doctors within fifteen minutes. Dr M. was due in surgery and I was his only patient at the clinic – so I got fast and preferential treatment which was wonderful as I didn’t have time to get nervous. I also managed my grocery shopping before I went to the Doctors and then more Christmas shopping afterwards. Home for late lunch and back down the street again for more shopping which was going wonderfully until I got a call from the school – Nicola was sick with a headache (the same kind James had on Tuesday) and had to come home early. We were only home for half a hour and Mum rang – she had locked her keys in the car and needed rescuing.
Thursday another quick trip down the street then home to rest as I then had the headache which the kids obviously shared with me. A snooze that afternoon helped. The weather hasn’t – it is continually getting hotter and is quite sticky and horrible. I did manage to get some sewing done though – another bag made.
Friday a whole day home – yipee I might get something done. No chance – I had visitors all day – still it’s always nice to have a chat and catch up on the news.
This morning Ashley and I went to the beauty salon (see the first paragraph) then into the local retravision store. We started looking at a fridge for the bus as the one in there is on it’s last legs. From there we progressed to the stoves where while I found the stove that I really, really want – but……..I would need to sell the house in order to buy it ……so that one was out of the question. There was another stove there which will do very nicely when mine finally gives up its tenious hold on life – which will hopefully be sooner rather than later. The new stove (see already I’m thinking of it as mine) has gas cook top and electric oven which is fan forced among other things. I think I will need to read the instruction book before I started cooking on it. It really was a beautiful stove – if there is such a thing – and very modern looking and I can just see the cakes and biscuits and pies with beautifully browned crusts coming out of it….but those thoughts will have to wait as Ashley (who knows these things) says mine will have to blow up first…….darn it!
Now from there we progressed to televisions where He Who Knows All Things Electrical has been dreaming about getting a wide screen TV. Honestly you should have seen his face as he gazed in rapture at a spider on the TV screen in all it’s creepy glory…..ewwwwww. To cut a long story short (and to prevent the Man of the House drooling over the televisions in the store) – I bought him a wide screen TV for Christmas which will be delivered Monday afternoon. Needless to say Ashley is over the moon and has spent part of this afternoon – moving the TV we already have around and cleaning off the dust etc which always seems to accumulate around such items. There was huge debate (before I retired for a Nanna Nap) as to whether this new TV would fit on our cabinet – it will have to. I’m not buying one of those too – the one we have is only a couple of years old. The “old” TV will be moved into the rumpus room so the kids can watch it in there – not that they will as there isn’t Pay TV connected in there and they don’t like commercial television. Are you getting the feeling my family is fairly spoilt – cause I am.
Meanwhile I’m walking out of the store waiting for him to say “Darling – you bought me such a wonderful present – would you like that stove for Christmas?” Now while I’m not normally into practical gifts – such as frying pans etc – I would kill for that stove. Alas it didn’t happen and unless Santa is very strong I doubt that he would be able to fit it into my kitchen – after removing the old stove, cleaning the cavity and wiring and hooking up the gas - without me realising or for that matter actually doing the cleaning/supervising on Christmas Eve. Sigh – it’s a good thing it’ too hot to cook – my old stove has had a reprieve for a bit longer.

A couple of years ago, I’ve considered the possibility of having acrylic nails too. But they are very expensive, and I do a lot of embroidery or gardening, so I did not seem a good idea. But I liked the idea of doing something for myself, just for the fun of it.
