Fat Quarter Frenzy

I bought, fairly recently, the most stunning fat quarters from ebay and have been trying to decide how to use them.  Inspiration struck last week and this is the result.

It is a quilt based on one I found in a magazine - very simple and fast to do.  I had all the blocks cut out in approx 2 hours and by the next day had the quilt top sewn.  I still have to sort out backing fabric,  quilt and bind it but that won’t take long and I have a woolen blanket that it fits on nicely to use as batting in it.

I think I am going to call it “Oranges and Lemons” or maybe “Lemonade” as quite a bit of the fabric has oranges and lemons printed on it - not to mention watermelons, and pears….vbg…..maybe it’s name should be “Fruit Salad”.

With the strips I had left from the quilt I made this bag using a log cabin block as the feature both front and back…..

Which is destined as a gift for someone special.  It is the same pattern as this bag…….

which I had made not long ago.

Then as I still had strips left I made some Log Cabin Blocks and peiced together this table runner….

And then…..because I had two half triangles left from the table runner I made……….

A Pot Mitt….. which still has to have it’s woolen blanket inset put in it so I don’t burn myself.  I simply joined the  two halves together and have fused down a flower over the top of them.  The flower and leaves - which were a left over from another project still have to be appliqued down.

I even had enough scraps left over to peice the back of the pot mitt.  Now to join it all together.

After all that I only have about five very small 1 1/2 inch wide strips left that are possibly too small for anything but will be put away for “just in case”….vbg.
